Disconnecting To Connect

by Jessica Hickok on July 26, 2009

I turned off the BlackBerry, Twitter and Facebook on Saturday to spend some quality time with my family.  We loaded up the kids and headed to Branson to spend the day at Silver Dollar City.  We had so much fun making fun of Dad for not wanting to ride the roller coasters, we ate cotton candy by the bucket and we doused people on the roaring river ride with the water spigots.

IMG00448-20090725-1701 I think we spent $10 in quarters activating the water spigots to drench the people on the ride.  (Yes, there is a reason why they call it Steal Your Dollar City).  But it was worth it to hear my boys laugh hysterically as they thought they were so sneaky.  As karma would have it, they got their paybacks when they got drenched on the Fire In the Hole ride.

The weather wasn’t entirely perfect as we dodged rain drops here and there, but we enjoyed just being together.  Besides that, my BlackBerry isn’t waterproof so it was well worth it to turn it off and enjoy the company of my family.

You can mosey on over to Flickr if you want to see more of weekend pics.
