One or The Other Syndrome

Decision Road SignMy Dad used to grumble at me when I was teenager about how if my car was immaculately clean, then my room was a mess. Or if my room was super clean and organized, then my car was a disaster. (Yes, my car often turned into my closet with extra clothes, shoes or purses I had either switched while out and about or purchased at the mall). He would always tell me that he couldn’t understand how it was one or the other with me. Although, I’ve gotten a little bit better about that, the “one or the other” effect has certainly trickled down to other areas of my life.

Starting with my office. If my office is clean and organized, then my house at home is wreck! If my checkbook is balanced and reconciled, my blood sugars are out of whack (Type 1 diabetic, don’t forget!). If I actually have money to spend, then I can’t find anything fun to buy. On the other hand, if money is tight there are all sorts of things I can’t live without and feel like must be purchased right now. I’m sure you know all of these feelings, you’ve most likely been here, haven’t you?
So maybe that would explain why I haven’t been blogging much on my personal blog, but yet my Transaction Desk blog for work is flourishing. It has to be the one-or-the-other syndrome. Or the jinx of my Dad. Who knows?
