I love my job and I love what I do as a REALTOR® and Property Manager.
Part of the REALTOR® organization and profession is an unwritten rule to be proud of who you are and what you do. There are code of ethics courses that every REALTOR® must take each year along with the continuing education classes.
Recently, I have been showing a lot of buyer’s homes and I often get asked something along the lines of understanding how representation works. I then discuss my FIDUCIARY DUTIES as a REALTOR® representing the buyer. Fiduciary what?! Yes, I know, I had to spell check that and it sounds way more difficult than it really is. They are broken down as this:
- Loyalty.
- Obedience.
- Disclosure.
- Confidentiality.
- Reasonable Care & Diligence.
- Accounting.
Like any job out there, I know that there are some losers that have given our profession a bad name. But that is why you want to know the difference between a REALTOR® and a real estate agent. We are not all the same, but some of us have a higher caliber and standard of professionalism and we wear the pin to show it.
