Here it is 10 days later and I’m still on walk high.  I haven’t got much posted about it other than quick pictures here and there, but I can’t help but get that warm, fuzzy feeling when I think about the progress JDRF Ozarks has made.

Our first Walk To Cure Diabetes was held on Saturday, May 30, 2009 at Jordan Valley Park in Springfield, MO.  I had no idea what to expect but we garnered approximately 500 people at the walk and we raised almost $35,000 for type 1 diabetes research.  I couldn’t have done this fabulous event on my own.  There were several volunteers that helped out and we can officially call this outstanding event a 100% volunteer-run walk.  The news covered the event.  The Springfield News-Leader followed up the next week.

Yes, the progress is amazing.  Yes, we are getting closer to a cure.  Yes, the walk is already scheduled for next year (May 22, 2010).  Yes, we have our sponsor and walk chair for the 2nd annual walk.  Yes, I met tons of other people who deal with this disease day-in-day-out like I do.  And yes, it feels good to have JDRF here in the Ozarks.
