Tenants Are Droppin’ Like Flies

Most of you already know about my daily-grind-day-job in real estate and property management. You have also probably heard about this crazy non-existent real estate bubble that has popped and how bad the real estate market really is. The real estate
market is different in every city, so therefore it’s hard for NBC’s Today Show hottie (Matt Lauer) to tell you that the real estate market is in a slump when it could be totally different in the city where you live. I don’t disagree with everyone talking about the market dive, because it’s true that the market is in a decline while interest rates are on the rise. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that the “bubble” has “popped”.
However, what I can judge is the rentals market. And Tenants are dropping like flies. Just today we had 3 individual Tenants call the office and tell us that they moved out today (with no notice). Okay, that isn’t entirely true, they didn’t call us, we called them after we discovered the utilities had been transferred out of their names as of today. They all act ridiculously dumb like they didn’t know that they were supposed to give us notice. Believe me, they know…we go over it depth during lease signings that they have to give 30 days notice in writing from the first of the month. One girl had just moved in 2 months ago and she told us that she had to move out because we wouldn’t fix anything, even though she never called us about what needed to be “fixed”. Duh, she did know the expiration date of her lease. But now with 3 more vacant available units, this doesn’t sit well with us knowing that we already have many other vacancies. So what, the market is in a decline…that only means that it can go up from here.
