I can’t help but keep singing the song from Schoolhouse Rock (am I dating myself? I grew up on that show!) about a bill on Capitol Hill. Ugh… now it’s stuck in my head again.
I just returned from a fantastic trip to Washington DC and the National Association of REALTORS® (NAR) Midyear Meetings. During these meetings we took the issues facing homeowner’s today and discussed them with our congressman from each state. Some of those issues include protecting homeownership tax benefits, the reauthorization the national flood insurance program and securing the future of homeownership. Obviously, I won’t go into the details of those issues in an effort not to bore you on this post, but click the links to see the talking points we shared with our congressman.
There were approximately 15,000 REALTORS® who attended these Midyear Meetings which included a major REALTOR® Rally which brought all of us out in blue t-shirts to stand strong with our state. The Fan Cam caught shots of everyone who attended the Rally, so click on that link if you want to play a fun game of “Where’s Waldo?”
During the NAR meetings throughout the week, I took my position as the Vice Chair of the Property Management Forum as well as attended the committee meetings for the NAR Commercial Committee, the NAR Leadership Academy Advisory Board and the Conference Programs Sub-Committee.
I even had one day off where I got the opportunity to walk around DC a bit and see some of the sights. So it wasn’t all work. Have you been to DC? If so, what were some of your favorite places to visit?
And did you ever get the silly Schoolhouse Rock song stuck in your head?
