Today I am no longer 30 years old. I am now a 30-something. I will no longer count how old I am, I will put myself into that category of 30-something. I also haven’t gained any weight since I was in college because when I went to renew my drivers license today, I kept my weight the same as it was 14 years ago. Yes, I waited until the last minute to renew my license, and yes, I seriously contemplated how many pounds difference would be acceptable in fudging it on the new license. I totally had a number is mind. Until the woman taking my picture asked if my height and weight were the same. I looked at her as seriously as I could, I asked her the question “does it look like my height and weight are the same?” She looked at me and said “I’ve never had anyone ask me that before and I say, yes it does look the same.” So there it was settled. My weight (and height) stayed the same. The girl at the drivers license bureau became my new best friend, and I am now officially a 1-thirty-something according to the State of Missouri.
After a fun day of hanging with friends, birthday songs and hugs from my kids, lots of gifts, a balloon bouquet surprise at the office, and tons and tons of Facebook birthday wishes, my family took me to dinner (of which I ate as if to keep in line with my existing college weight) and overall I can call it a very good and happy birthday. Thank you to everyone for the special wishes and for making it a wonderful day.
Don’t forget…every woman lies about their weight on their drivers license.
