Tech Tips From The Desk of Paul Dizmang

No this really isn’t a list of Paul Dizmang’s Tech Tips as the title states.  It’s just that “The Donald” got a request via fax from a certain REALTOR® group here in Springfield requesting his best tech tip that he would be willing to share with other REALTORS.  So I got to thinking what kind of tech tips I would give if I was asked.

It doesn’t matter if they ask me or not, chances are this list is probably pretty identical to what The Donald will give them.  Remember this list is for REALTORS so they aren’t really “tech” tips as much as they are just useful computer tips.

  1. Google Docs & Spreadsheets. Great for the Agent that doesn’t want to invest in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.  It’s expensive software, so here is the free online Google version that integrates with Microsoft Office.  Bonus Tip: Also good for people using a Mac.
  2. Twitter. Brokers should use the tagline “What Are You Doing?” literally to its advantage.  I remember a long time ago when my Broker (The Donald) required everyone in our office to write down what they were doing every 15 minutes on these time-style sheets.  It was so he had a pulse on our projects and transactions and also held us accountable to actually be working instead of screwing around.  Had Twitter been in existence way back then, he probably would have made us Twitter every 15 minutes what we were doing.  It would have met his expectations plus it would have shared with the world that his company was busy and productive and building lots of search engine ranking back to his company web site.
  3. Flickr. Post pictures of your life and of your listings and rental properties.  People love to see photos and this site loads quick, is easily shareable and free.
  4. Postlets et. al. There is an extraordinary takeoff of listing sites advertising what you’ve got for sale.  And I’m not just talking about Craigslist.  Postlets is one of my favorite places to list our rentals and houses for sale because it is easy to use and you can post quickly.  Plus it posts to multiple other sites at the same time.  Talk about killing two birds with one stone.

So those are just a few tips to start with.  What tech tips can you add to the list here?  Make it good, I’ve got to top Paul’s list.
